Fall is here—and with it, that gentle nudge to reset not just your wardrobe, but your mindset. Just like we adjust our routines with the change of seasons, our closets need that same intentional care.
In my latest YouTube video, I walk you through my Fall Closet Edit, sharing how I purge summer pieces, identify gaps, and prepare for a more effortless and elevated fall wardrobe. If you haven’t watched it yet, you can catch it below 👇🏾

Let’s dive deeper into why seasonal closet edits matter and how this process helps you align your wardrobe with your current lifestyle and signature style.
Why You Should Do a Seasonal Closet Edit
A seasonal closet edit is more than a cleanout—it’s an opportunity to reconnect with your style and your season of life.Over time, our wardrobes fill with things that no longer serve us—clothes that don’t fit, pieces we’ve outgrown, or trends that just don’t feel right anymore.
Here’s why a regular closet refresh is essential:
Declutter with purpose. You can’t see what you love when your closet is packed with what you don’t.
Gain clarity on your style direction. As your lifestyle and taste evolve, your wardrobe should evolve too.
Shop more intentionally. When you know what’s missing and what’s overrepresented, you’ll make smarter, more confident purchases.
Step One: Purge and Store
The goal of this edit is simple: purge your summer wardrobe and store what’s staying.
Here’s how I approached it in my video:
Pull out items to donate—those you haven’t worn or that no longer align with your current style.
Set aside items to gift or share—I love sending certain pieces to my niece; it’s a fun way to extend the life of clothing that still sparks joy.
Store your summer favorites properly so they’re fresh and ready next year. Use garment bags or bins, and make sure everything is clean, tailored and folded before packing away.
This creates instant breathing room for your fall wardrobe—and your creativity.
Ask Yourself These Four Key Questions
As you go through each item, ask yourself:
Does it fit? If it doesn’t, release it. Dress for the body and season you’re in.
Have I worn it in the last six months? If not, there’s probably a reason.
Does it fit my current lifestyle? Your wardrobe should reflect who you are now, not who you were.
Can I style it multiple ways? Versatile pieces extend your wardrobe and make outfit planning effortless.
These questions help you edit with intention, not emotion—so you’re left with pieces that genuinely serve you.
Closet Tip: Take Notes on the Gaps
As you edit, keep a notebook or your phone handy to jot down what’s missing. Maybe you need:
More layering pieces for fall (like light sweaters or longline cardigans)
A few fresh dresses—midi, maxi, and short—to mix and match with boots or sneakers
Basics like quality denim, neutral tops, or a tailored blazer
By identifying gaps, you create a focused shopping list that supports your existing wardrobe instead of competing with it.
The Power of Intentional Shopping
This entire process supports one of my favorite fashion philosophies: shop your closet first.
When you take inventory of what you already own, you reduce impulse spending and begin to curate a wardrobe that’s truly yours. You’ll start to notice the pieces you reach for most, the colors that make you glow, and the silhouettes that flatter you best.
That’s how you build confidence—and your signature style.
Intentional shopping means:
Buying less, but better.
Choosing pieces that mix, match, and layer seamlessly.
Investing in quality over quantity.
It’s not just about clothes; it’s about aligning your wardrobe with your lifestyle and values.
From Closet Edit to Style Evolution
Seasonal edits are not just about organizing—they’re a form of self-care and self-reflection. As we evolve, so should our style.
By purging what no longer fits your life, you make space for what truly does.
So this fall, give yourself permission to slow down, take inventory, and move with intention. You’ll find that once your closet feels aligned, so does everything else.
