Mallorca in 72 Hours: Why Short Getaways Might Be the Lifestyle Upgrade You Need

The Recap

There are some trips that change your passport, and others that change your perspective.

This past Juneteenth weekend was the latter.

On Thursday evening, I boarded a flight to Mallorca, Spain for a long weekend with friends. By Sunday afternoon, I was headed back home. Less than 72 hours.

And yet, I came home feeling like I'd been away much longer.

That's the beauty of intentional travel.

A Different View Changes You

I stayed at the Pure Salt Garonda, an adults-only hotel right on the water. It was quiet, beautifully designed, and an overall vibe. To be honest, where you stay becomes part of the experience. The slower pace, waking up to the beach footsteps away... it reminds you that life doesn't always have to feel rushed.

It gave me room to just relax.

Not because my life is chaotic, but because even a good life benefits from stepping outside of itself every now and then.

Palma de Mallorca, Spain

Palma Nights

One of my favorite parts of the weekend was hanging with friends in Palma for dinner, drinks, hookah, and just a good ole time.

There's something special about getting with the ladies, in a different city, laughing over great food, talking about life, and all the things.  It was definitely a memorable time.  I was reminded how much joy exists when we allow ourselves to simply be present.

No agenda.

No rushing.

Just enjoying where we are.

A Day on the Mediterranean

Saturday was a good time on the water.  We spent the day sailing along the Mallorca coastline with nothing on the agenda except enjoying the vibes, the sun, a little music, crystal-clear water, and decent drinks, lol. Seeing the Cathedral of Mallorca from the water was beautiful.  I've learned that some things look completely different depending on where you're standing.  Sometimes nothing has to change except your perspective.

Why I Believe Travel Is Part of Intentional Living

People often think of travel as a luxury. I think it's an investment. Not because you need to collect passport stamps or stay in beautiful hotels. But because travel expands you. Every destination asks you to become just a little more curious. You navigate unknown places, people, and cultures. You hear different languages. You experience different vibes. You realize the world is much bigger than your day-to-day. And when your world gets bigger...Your thinking does too. Intentional living isn't just about creating beautiful routines, and ease at home. It's also about creating experiences that stretch your perspective and remind you who you are outside of your responsibilities. Sometimes the greatest growth happens in the most unexpected places. It happens sitting on a sailboat with the sun on your face and a drink in your hand. Or walking unfamiliar streets with your girlfriends. That's expansion.

The Case for the 72-Hour Getaway

One thing this weekend reinforced is that you don't need two weeks off to feel refreshed. You need intention. If you've been waiting for the "perfect time" to travel, consider this your permission to stop waiting. A half-planned 72-hour getaway can do more for your mindset than scrolling travel content for six months.

Here's the formula:

Choose somewhere that's easy to reach.
Spend more time enjoying the destination than getting there.

Stay somewhere you'll actually enjoy being.
On shorter trips, your hotel becomes part of the experience, not just a place to sleep.

Plan one anchor experience.
For us, it was sailing. Everything else unfolded naturally.

Leave room to wander.
Some of the best moments happen between the plans.

It’s A Wrap

As I checked out of the Pure Salt Garonda on Sunday afternoon, and headed home, I wasn’t doing so with a long list of places I'd seen. I was coming home with something better, a refreshed perspective, more laughter, and a reminder that living well isn't something we postpone until retirement or "someday." It's something we build now, one intentional decision at a time. Travel is part of my life’s design, not because I'm trying to escape it but because every time I leave home, I return as a slightly expanded version of myself.

And I think that's one of the best investments we can make.
